Private Venue Hire

Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to private venue-hire bookings at The Corner House, 2A Browns Lane, Loughborough, LE11 3HE. Please read them before submitting an enquiry or paying any amount.

Last updated: 25 August 2026

1. Enquiries and booking confirmation

Submitting an enquiry does not create a confirmed booking and does not guarantee that a date will be held. A booking is confirmed only when The Corner House has approved the enquiry and the refundable security deposit shown at the time of booking has been received.

2. Venue hire and capacity

The maximum venue capacity is 150 guests. The organiser must provide an accurate estimated attendance and must not allow the agreed capacity to be exceeded. The Corner House may require guest numbers or arrangements to be adjusted where necessary for safety, licensing or operational reasons.

3. Refundable security deposit

A refundable security deposit is required to secure an approved booking. The amount will be shown during the booking process and in the payment request. It is separate from the venue-hire fee. Following the event, the deposit will normally be returned after the venue has been checked. The deposit is refundable only in accordance with these Terms & Conditions, including the cancellation policy set out in Section 4.

Reasonable deductions may be made for:

The organiser will be told about any proposed deduction and the reason for it.

4. Cancellations and changes

Please notify The Corner House as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change your booking.

If you cancel your booking 6 weeks or more before your event date, your refundable security deposit will be returned in full, provided there are no outstanding amounts owed to The Corner House.

If you cancel less than 6 weeks before your event date, your refundable security deposit will be retained by The Corner House. This is because it becomes significantly more difficult to re-book the venue at short notice and helps cover the losses and costs associated with late cancellations.

If The Corner House has to cancel an event for reasons within its control, all amounts paid for services not provided will be refunded. This does not affect any statutory rights.

5. Venue-hire fees and other charges

The applicable venue-hire fee and any optional extras will be confirmed before the booking is finalised. Additional services, including DJ, karaoke and venue catering, are chargeable where selected.

The remaining balance for venue hire and any optional extras must be paid no later than 4 weeks before the event date.

6. Drinks and catering

All alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consumed at the venue must be purchased from The Corner House unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing. Outside alcohol is not permitted.

Organisers may arrange their own caterer, buffet or food supplier, subject to prior agreement and compliance with food-safety, access and cleanup requirements.

The Corner House also offers optional Grazing Table and Pizza Party catering at £10 per person. Customers may choose the number of people they want catered for; this does not have to match the total number of guests attending. Catering quantities and charges selected during booking form part of the event agreement.

7. Children and young people

Children are welcome at private events when accompanied and appropriately supervised by a responsible adult. The organiser remains responsible for the conduct and supervision of children and young people attending the event. Alcohol will be supplied only in accordance with licensing law.

8. Entertainment, decorations and suppliers

Organisers may arrange their own entertainment, including a DJ, band, singer or other performer, subject to prior approval. External suppliers must follow venue instructions and relevant safety requirements.

Decorations are welcome, but nothing may be fixed in a way that damages surfaces, obstructs exits, interferes with fire-safety equipment or creates a hazard. Confetti, smoke effects, naked flames and similar items require written approval.

9. Safety and conduct

The organiser and all guests must follow staff instructions, licensing requirements and fire-safety procedures. Fire exits and escape routes must remain clear. Fire doors must not be wedged open, and safety equipment must not be interfered with.

The Corner House may refuse entry to, or require the removal of, anyone behaving dangerously, unlawfully, abusively or in a way likely to cause damage or serious disruption.

10. Setup, finishing time and leaving the venue

Setup, event start and finish times must be agreed in advance. Last orders are called at 12:00am (midnight). All guests must leave the venue by 1:00am, unless otherwise agreed in writing before the event. Presents, decorations, balloons, catering equipment and any other personal belongings may be collected the following day, provided collection has been arranged with The Corner House before the event.

The person making the booking is responsible for the behaviour of all guests attending the event. Any items left at the venue without prior collection arrangements may be disposed of after a reasonable period.

11. Personal property and damage

Personal property is brought to the venue at the owner's risk. The Corner House is not responsible for loss or damage unless caused by its negligence or where liability cannot legally be excluded. The organiser is responsible for damage or loss caused by themselves, their guests or their suppliers.

12. Events outside our control

Neither party will be responsible for a failure caused by events outside their reasonable control. Where this happens, both parties will work together to find a reasonable solution, which may include rearranging the event or refunding amounts for services that cannot be provided.

13. Privacy

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; The Corner House does not receive or store full card details.

14. Contact and governing law

Questions can be sent to admin@tchl.bar. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing in them limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Important: Event-specific details confirmed by email, including the date, timings, price, services and payment schedule, form part of the booking agreement.
